Statement of Need/Program Overview
Improve surgeons’ ability to conduct a safe and effective transoral fundoplication
Educational Objectives
After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:
- Review current and previous transoral techniques and their relationship to laparoscopic fundoplication techniques.
- Select and interpret preoperative testing in order to identify appropriate patients for the surgical treatment of GERD using transoral fundoplication.
- Discuss the evaluation and setup of the Esophyx device prior to the procedure.
- Improve surgeons ability to conduct a safe and effective transoral fundoplication.
- Demonstrate understanding of the mechanics and proper handling of the endoscope.
- Recognize the role of the multi-disciplinary team pre-, post- and during the TIF procedure.
